What The…?

July 16, 2007

weird-thing-07152007What is this weird thing?

Our neighbor Ingrid found this thing between our and Michel’s house and thought that I would be interested in taking a photo of it. But none of us had any idea what this is.

Does anyone know?

Looks like the consensus is a mutant Sweetgum fruit where several of the pods have grown together.

Amanda, I love your blog. The poetry, the images, your wonderment about nature, the little buddhist nun inside who pops out in all your posts. Very refreshing indeed, and sweet.

prayerwarrior2, sorry to disappoint you, but it’s definitely not a cactus (even though it doesn’t do a very good job distinguish itself from the cactus family). :)

Harmonia, thanks for your compliment! You got a pretty nice blog there, too!

Marguerite, thanks for your compliment, but I don’t remember that I placed any poetry in my blog though, unless you meant the Peach song. You got quite a blog yourself, too!

And thanks for everyone, from AskMeFi or my blog, helping identify this thing for me. :D

well I know the name :) This is a bergamot. At least a kind of bergamot. Bergamot is a fruit among the orange family (like lemon, mandalin, grapefruit,…).
