The SF Bay Cloud Sea (舊金山灣雲海)

After a week-long of unbearable heat, the famous SF fog finally came to rescue. (Our house does not have AC, thanks to the fog.) It came through the Golden Gate Bridge (you can sort of see a tip of it if you click on the the photo) and completely covered the Bay, Berkeley, Emeryville, and part of SF. Our house was already hot at 7am, so I put on my short-sleeve polo shirt and skort for work. By the time I left the house at 9am, the fog was already burned off. However, as driving towards the Bart station, I could feel the power of the early fog — I was cold!
Here is a photo of the foggy SF (Hint: Click it!):

Yet Another Beautiful Rose
This morning on the way back from my newspaper walk, I was quite surprise to see this rose. Unlike the others in our garden, this one has yellow/orange petals with dark pink edge.
I noticed that it doesn’t look as magical in the photo as in the real world, oh well… In the future, I will try to take their photos an hour or two later when the lighting is more ideal, if they can promise to bloom during weekends instead of weekdays.

Fig! (無花果)
I thought that we were done with fruit for this year, and then I found that a little fig was forming. I completely forgot that “fig” is called “no flower fruit” in Chinese, which means that it doesn’t flower first to grow its fruit. How cool is that! Maybe I’ll finally be able to taste our first fig ever in a month or two!

The Picture of Everything

This morning David stumbled upon Howard Hallis’s The Picture of Everything website and couldn’t help to tell me that he found Totoros in one of Hallis’s giant doodles (not this particular one shown above). Check it out and see if you can find who’s missing!

100 Day Celebration for Amanda
Marsha and Graham’s Little Amanda is 100-day-old! To celebrate this special occasion, they threw a party at Graham’s parents’ giant house, which is a kids’ heaven as we soon found out.
As everyone showed up and showered Little Amanda and Evan with gifts (Yes, yes, we all had been told NOT to bring any gifts for weeks), the star didn’t appreciate all the noisy attention that disrupted her daily napping routine, and she actually threw a few rare tantrums throughout the party. Well, none of her tantrums lasted longer than 1 minute, so I guess that by definition one can’t really call them “tantrums.” However, by Little Amanda’s standard, they were definitely tantrums, since normally she rarely makes any noise and usually smils at everyone. Hopefully she regained her equilibrium after all the annoying adults left.
As for other bigger kids… The party was definitely a blast! There were two huge lawns for the kids to run around on, a oak tree swing to fly solo or in pairs, a jacuzzi to play with the water, a ping pong table, and a big swimming pool, which was too dangerous for little kids and had to be covered during the party.
And, heh heh… I finally got Justin’s portrait (even though he was ordered to pose for me
)!

When your sysadmins get bored
My friend Darren sent this one to me, and I finally understood why our system admins always seemed so busy…

Spider
On the way back from my little newspaper pickup trip, I saw this spider built a beautiful web right outside of our living room window. This little construction worker has been busy while I was meditating on the other side of window!
