Dog Whisperer
Recently David introduced me this amazing National Geographic show — “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan.” Even though it’s talking about how to train dogs (even more so, dog owners), training dogs actually scarily similar to training kids or one’s inner demon.
Most of the time when a dog behaves badly, it’s because either its owner allows the dog to be the boss or the dog senses what its owner feels and reacts accordingly. So the dog trainer, Cesar Millan, teaches owners how to take control back and show their dogs that they are the boss, and sure enough, those dogs behave pretty well shortly after.
Sometimes dogs themselves are OK but their owners become anxious about certain situations, and the anxieties pass on to their dogs and their dogs become aggressive or paranoid or problematic. And then the dog owners become more anxious, and their dogs become more problematic. The vicious cycle continues on and on.
He also explains the body language of dogs, but during training, the owners have to be calm, relaxed, assertive, confident, firm, and consistent. Dogs can feel what their owners feel, so unless the owners have those qualities, dogs will take advantages of their owners and become the leader. How many of you have seen those dog owners get pulled by their dogs to wherever they wanna go?
Really, check it out!
