再訪《大佛頂首楞嚴經》

(This entry is related to another one I posted a year ago, “Shurangama Sutra 《大佛頂首楞嚴經》“. This excerpt is beyond my current limited translation ability, unfortunately; I hope that in the future I’ll be able to speak Buddhism in plain English to my Western readers.)

佛在《大佛頂首楞嚴經》中回答了許多其他宗教禁止信徒詢問的問題, 因為佛是覺者, 是老師, 目的在幫助眾生見諸法實相, 而非自己成為高高在上的教主. 對於喜歡用科學的方法來追問宇宙實相問題的人, 千萬不可以錯過《大佛頂首楞嚴經》.

佛的大弟子，四大弟子之一富樓那提出來問，你跟阿難所講的這些道理，師兄已經悟了我們也聽懂了，但是你講的這個生命本體本來是清靜圓明的，空的，清靜圓明的云何復生山河大地？為什麼會一動，變出來一個世界，這個世界生那麼多東西，而且還變一個男的、女的還生了我們這些人，不是多餘嗎？這個生命怎麼來的，科學問題來了，這就是生命的根源。富樓那說，世尊啊，既然是清靜圓明云何，為什麼，云何復生山河大地，這個物質世界怎麼造成的呢？大問題來了，你看所有經典沒有這一部經那麼科學化的，一刀就殺進來，這個問題大了。

…所以研究科學，研究這些還非深入 [大佛頂首] 愣嚴 [經] 不可呢。

Obama Wins Election!

Yes, Obama wins the election and makes history!

And what a great speech he gave tonight that touched so many people!

And he’s right: YES WE CAN!

I voted!

This morning we stopped by our local voting booth before going for a walk.

This presidential election has been an exciting historical event! In fact, I’ve become such an election junkie that I can’t live a day without checking the latest political news. Thank goodness the whole thing is gonna be over in a few hours, and America will finally wake from the Neocon’s dark spell and find her old friendly self back.

Even though my presidential vote probably won’t make any difference, I still think that it’s important to vote. Plus, this time California has this infamous Proposition 8 for all of us to defeat to bring the true fairness to everyone.

Yes, I voted!
