Master De Han’s Lecture (德涵法師講唯識學探源)
December 11, 2008

This evening after leaving Teacher Chen’s studio (陳老師的道場), I went to Taipei Youth Buddhist Association or TYBA (北佛青) for Master De Han’s lecture on Vijñānavāda (唯識學).
I actually wanted to skip the class, because I was tired and sleepy and I liked to hang out with Teacher Chen at her studio. But she told me not to skip my class again. (Last week I skipped it because of my jet lag.) It took me a while to find the place, but I did make it on time despite all the obstacles.
So did I learn anything about anything new about Vijñānavāda? Well, I’m afraid not. Master De Han had years of experiences teaching this class in universities, so she was an expert in this field. It was me; I was exhausted and my mind was everywhere except here. So even though I stared at her PowerPoint slides hard, her words just couldn’t get to my mind…
Next week the lecturer will be Master Kuan Qian (寬謙法師), one of my favorites, and I’d better get my act together this time!
