David’s Buddy

These days no matter what kind of walks we take, we’ll always end up visiting David’s new buddy — Buddy. Buddy is chained to the back of the house, and most of the time he just lies at his spot, naps, and ignores the world around him. We think that he might have some age already, since he’s calm and friendly and his movement is on the slow side.

Whenever we walk by, David would call him through the thin bush fence. When Buddy hears it (Gosh, he must have a lot of names by now!), he would raise his head, look at us, and wag his tail. And then he would slowly stroll over and allow David to love him for 5 minutes. When the time is up, he would slowly stroll back to his old spot and back to what he was busy doing — napping.

This morning he seemed to be low on energy or something. David called and called, but he just stayed at his spot and wagged his tail. When he realized that David probably wouldn’t leave without giving him a good massage, he finally slowly strolled over to please David. (Did I see him letting out a sigh?) David felt bad for making him walk over but appreciated his cooperation. And when David’s time was up, sure enough, he slowly strolled back to his spot again, not even looking back once.
