DVG – Construction (建構菜園)

(“DVG” == “David’s Vegetable Garden”)

I forgot to take photos on Sat, 04/18/2009, when David and Lucas took out a tree stump and got this spot ready by tilling in lots of soil amendment.

But I could’ve even had started earlier, with David taking out a pair of 30 year old Juniper bushes, one green bin per weekend. Oh well. We’d better start with what we have.

Anyway, today David started at around 11am to set up 2 gate poles with concrete. While waiting the concrete to dry, we put down all the metal bars with me holding them and David hammering them in. Boy, that was something!

Next he put on the fence, just to discourage deer to come for some snake later on. When the fence was mostly done (He left a side open for the irrigation crew to install the irrigation system), he added some nutritious plant food (chicken poop!) and cleaned up the place.

By the time he was finally done with the whole project, it was 6pm already! Understandably David was totally, completely exhausted but highly satisfied!

這麼辛苦蓋圍牆, 主要是要防止鹿群們把我們的菜吃光光。
鹿群在我們這是很惹人厭的, 因為牠們什麼都吃,
不蓋圍牆的話, 就什麼也別想種了。

石頭從早上十一點忙到傍晚六點, 是累壞了,
但是很有成就感哦！:)

Ingrid’s Mourning Dove (哀鴿)

This fearless (or just plain lazy) Mourning Dove is hatching eggs in Ingrid’s hanging flower pot right next to their front door. After seeing so many attacks in our front yard, I hope that cats will never find them or just leave them alone…

這隻勇敢（還是超懶惰？）的哀鴿, 在 Ingrid 大門口的懸吊式花盆裏孵起蛋來。在看過這麼多鳥在我們家前院被貓攻擊之後, 希望貓們永遠找不到這群哀鴿母子, 或者就放過牠們一馬、、、
