Bubble Plant(泡泡果)
September 1, 2009
Does anyone know what this is? We found it during one of our usual walks. It’s about 1.5 feet tall and reminds me of figs, but we noticed that deer has left it alone… Mysterious…

I see.

No idea. Looks like figs, to be sure one would have to see the internal structure of the fruit. Odd that there are no leaves. But I’ve noticed that around Pacifica there are similar fig (?) trees that seem not to have fruit to the liking of feral animals either.

The “fruit” seems a bit too round at the bottom for figs though… But the weirdest thing was that deer left it alone, and you know that deer eats everything. Strange…

Such a cool looking fruit! I forwarded the pic to my plant-expert friend, who in turn forwarded it to her plant-expert neighbor. This was her neighbor’s response: “I think it’s either a Xmas tree that withstood a nuclear holocaust or a fig tree that has tossed its leaves to the wind.”

*LOL* Xmas tree decor was my first thought, since they were so shiny and perfect! If next time we saw the owner, I’ll ask him/her what this strange looking thing is.
